Beaumont Community Players (BCP) has been in existence for over seventy-five years, entertaining audiences with professional quality Broadway plays and musicals that range from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Neil Simon.  Established in 1925 as the "Little Theatre," the local volunteer thespians have expanded from a small troupe performing at the City of Beaumont's Fair Park to a myriad of Southeast Texas talents continuing this same tradition and engaging in collaborative performances with the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Lamar University Theatre Department and other arts-related organizations.

Boasting an annual season show subscription in addition to an extensive children's summer program, BCP is the only non-profit community based performance organization for local citizenry.  With a season show attendance of approximately 3,000, and over 180 children participating in KIDmunity summer productions and 2,200 in summer show attendance, the organization serves a multi-cultural diverse population in Southeast Texas.

During the 1990's and through 2007, BCP's larger musical productions requiring substantial staging along with additional audience seating capacity were produced at the Jefferson Theatre, while smaller shows (i.e. comedies, musicals, dramas) were performed at the former Tyrrell Park Elementary School, known since 1995 as the BCP Playhouse.  In 2007 BCP moved into its new home at 4155 Laurel Avenue.

The positive teaching and mentoring relationship embodied in BCP's organization is exemplified in the group's motto, "there is a place for everyone in the theatre, whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience."

BCP is a "family affair" with parents, children and grandparents assisting in all aspects of the productions, from directing to costume designing, researching and appropriating props, building show sets, learning acting, singing or dancing skills, along with technical support skills such as lighting and sound.  This theatrical hands-on experience develops building blocks for self-expression and creativity fueling individual self-esteem, teaches valuable employment skills and provides avenues for new talent to flourish and discover their potential.
