Technical Director

Jerry McMillan

Jerry McMillan is our most tenured staff member. Jerry began his love of the theatre in high school, church and then studying Theatre Arts in college at Lamar University. Joining BCP as the only staff member in July of 1987, he has lead the Community Players from the Little Theatre at Fair Park to the Jefferson Theatre. Then in 1997 the theatre moved again to another home at the former Tyrrell Park Elementary School.

Over the years Jerry has been instrumental in producing almost every production presented by BCP. During his career he’s directed over fifty plays or musicals, overseen and designed every set and almost every lighting design, which placed him in a unique position for the design work for the Betty Greenberg Center. We are so grateful to Jerry for seeing the vision of our new home and supporting our theatre programs and season of plays.

Box Office Manager

Donny Avery

Born and raised in Groves, TX Donny has been involved in theatre since he was young. In high school, he began acting in local community theatre and began to direct at Port Arthur Little Theatre when he was 18. After attending Lamar University for one year he transfered to Marymount Manhattan College in New York City for performance in theatre. In school, he discovered his true passion for directing theatre and switched his concentration to directing. After college, Avery worked on board the Vision of the Seas for Royal Carribbean as part of the cruise activites staff. He then moved to Dallas to pursue an internship in professional theatre and has lived a few other places since leaving Dallas. Avery has acted, stage managed, directed, and designed several productions in NYC, North Texas, and Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Since returning to the area a few years back he has acted and directed in several local productions for BCP, PALT, and Ad Hoc Beaumont including (among many) Almost, Maine, Rabbit Hole, Boeing Boeing and Xanadu. Avery is now happy to be working full time as your box office manager here at Beaumont Community Players, but has no intention of slowing down with the acting and directing. Avery is also heavily involved in the LGBT community of Southeast Texas and has served on several committees and has hosted and helped organize events for PFLAG and Pride Beaumont. Be sure to visit Donny in the box office for any of your ticket needs or just come say hi, he loves to meet all of BCP's wonderful patrons! See y'all at the theatre!

Business Manager

Virginia Nutt

Virginia Nutt started as Business Manager of BCP in October 2013. She is married to Carl Nutt and they have three grown children and three granddaughters.  Virginia has a love for the stage part of BCP as well; she has worked backstage as Stage Manager for several shows, played walk-on roles and done many things not purtaining to her Business Manager position and has loved every minute of it.  When not at the theatre, Virginia likes playing golf and traveling.

Wardrobe Mistress

Gladys Thomas

Gladys Thomas is Beaumont Community Players' wardrobe mistress. She is known area wide as a first class costumer. Her specialty is making a cast look fabulous on a BCP budget. You may have noticed her on the stage as well in a variety of BCP productions such as “Annie”, "Noises Off" and "True  West.” When not up to her ears in sewing for a production, Gladys is a wedding planner/caterer/florist and NEVER passes up a garage sale.  Her second passion is spending time with her precious grandchildren whenever she gets the chance.
